2018 was an extremely busy year for Reed City Group, as we went through an enormous amount of positive change. Part of that positive change was participating in more exciting events then we ever have before! In this post, we want to spotlight just a few of the great events we were thankful to be a part of:
As a new event to Reed City Group, we had the privilege to attend two career fairs this year at Central Michigan University and Ferris State University. Our aim was to meet and talk to students that wanted to learn more about our industry and Reed City Group! We sent a team to both colleges to talk to students about hands on experience with engineering, plastic injection molding, sales, and a multitude of other topics! We are excited to attend more next year.
Being involved with the local community is something RCG strives to do on a day-to-day basis. This year, we have had the opportunity to give back to them in a number of ways, including a coat drive, a can drive, and adopting some families for the holiday season! The coat drive earlier this season was extremely successful, and we were happy to provide all the warm clothing directly back to the school!
Manufacturing Day is a national scale effort to address and change any common misconceptions about the manufacturing industry, by giving students across the nation a chance to gain some insight by visiting facilities. We were absolutely ecstatic to take part in these activities by welcoming in a few local schools for a tour. The students were excited to learn about plastic injection molding, mold building, some of our automation capabilities, and even 3D printing! We can’t wait for to participate next year!
In the last 6 months of 2018, a number of groups of students, ranging in all ages, were welcomed to visit our facility in hopes of learning more about our industry, what type of career paths are offered, and who Reed City Group is. These students ranged from 8th grade, to high school age, to college students ready to graduate. Reed City Group is always excited to welcome up and coming talent, and grateful for the opportunity to teach students what we are all about!
Plastics News is a 46,000-circulation trade news paper that delivers industry relevant news. Every year, they spotlight various outstanding “stars” in the industry. This year, our controller was a nominee for the 2018 class of rising stars. We were fortunate to have Trevor travel to Chicago to represent Reed City Group well! You can read Trevor’s article in Plastics News here.
Hosted by the local area Chamber of Commerce, Reed City Group paved their way into the 2018 business expo to interact with other companies, and the general public!
