On Wednesday, July 11, Reed City Group (formerly Reed City Tool) was presented the STTF (Skilled Trades Training Fund) Grant check in the amount of $58,375 from Michigan Works for funding awarded in November. This is to assist in funding our apprenticeship and process technician training program. In collaboration with Ferris State University, Penn Foster, and Michigan Works, these young men have the ability to drive their careers in the right direction.
This grant helps provide 8,000 hours of on the job training, along with the 576 required hours of education. These apprentices and process techs have the ability to learn on their native machines here in Reed City, while also being taught by industry-experienced professors from Ferris. Penn Foster provides the online education that will eventually lead to a certification from the Department of State.
These young men have the chance to grow and develop with Reed City Group, as they have opportunity to take on eventual positions such as mold makers, or journeymen.
